"If you can describe someone as extremely inspirational, then that describes Sue."

Jeannine Rutgers

"Sue, when you listen to me, I know… You never interrupt or judge me. You enable me to find answers within myself You respect my goals and keep me accountable. You inspire me to be all I can be yet keep me grounded in the present. And all this is extraordinary! Thank you."

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”

Although the words are originally Helen Keller’s,
they could just as easily be Sue’s personal mission statement. Gregarious, spontaneous, and with a definite artistic leaning, Sue likes nothing better than to be out on the leading edge exploring new ground
or experiencing new things. “I enjoy the unusual, the
off-beat,” she says with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. “My favorite vacation was a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Every morning was a new adventure, an exploration to discover where the day’s journey would take us. But wherever we ended up at nightfall,
it was always just where we needed to be.”

Sue’s playful outlook on life... we are, after all, talking about a person who has a stuffed toy zebra and a clay gargoyle on her desk, and who loves fast cruising in her sunshine yellow corvette... is enhanced by a deep rooted sense of integrity and loyalty. “Integrity goes beyond being principled and honest. It’s about making sure that what you believe is congruent with the way you act... being in harmony with all aspects of yourself and the world around you.”

A natural leader, Sue’s talent at problem solving is most commonly described as “awesome” by her clients and friends. “One of my greatest strengths is an ability to grasp new ideas and situations very quickly,” she says. “I think it’s all part of being an explorer at heart.”

Inspiring the thrill of exploration in others is part of the magic that attracts Sue to business coaching. “I love working with clients who are willing to go beyond the tactical and strategic,” she says. “Unlike change brought about by will power alone, true change only happens when you gain a deeper awareness of self, when you connect with your real potential. My greatest joy is when a client suddenly discovers how some of their beliefs or values act like a stone jammed under the wheels of a wagon that’s stuck. Once you move the stone away, the wagon springs foTuesday, July 17, 2007 1:59/p>

Alex ColvilleIn her office, hangs an Alex Colville print that perhaps best sums up Sue’s insatiable zest for life. A horse gallops down the railroad track to meet an oncoming train. “I’ve had it in my office since 1978,” she says. “The sheer determination of the horse always inspires me. It’s as if I can do anything. My philosophy has always been that anything is possible... anything at all. If I focus on a specific goal and am truly committed to it, I know I’ll get there... just like you can.”
